Biography
Shows like The Magic School Bus and Bill Nye the Science Guy helped spark my initial interest in science because they broke down complex concepts in a digestible and fun way. As I pursue a career in science, I see it being presented in increasingly complex ways, and I recognize how important it is for this work to still be accessible to everyone to enable science to move forward. Thus, my goal is to contribute to the meaningful work done by LDOS and to continue developing my scientific communication skills in the process, especially in learning from the way LDOS writers employ humor and wit to compel listeners to engage with the science that they are presenting.
Why is science communication important to you personally?
No matter what field I end up going into for my career, I believe that being able to convey my work to any audience, regardless of their scientific background, will be crucial for making a meaningful and positive impact. Good science cannot happen in a vacuum; science is shaped and humanized by the world around it and vice-versa. Science communication is what helps make science more accessible, inviting everyone to participate and contribute to its progress.
