Locomotion and biomechanics of predator-prey interactions in fish
Biography
Alberto enjoys math and biology, especially together. As a Ph.D. student in the McHenry Lab, he runs experiments and develops mathematical models to understand how predatory fish chase down their prey. Alberto is a National Science Foundation GRFP fellow and is passionate about increasing diversity in STEM fields. He has worked as an assistant teacher at elementary schools in low-income communities and continues to mentor underrepresented minority students.
Why is science communication important to you personally?
Storytelling brings diverse people together, creates culture, and inspires future generations. This is why scientists should embrace the power of stories. As a scientist, curious about the natural world, I aim to educate and inspire through storytelling.
