New bombshells have entered Love Island: the mini-livers!
This is Sandra Tsing Loh with the Loh Down on Science.
A bad immune reaction is like a bad date, but we all need love, er, liver therapies… that are safe… right?
Meet the DASHING mini-liver – by Fadoua El Abdellaoui Soussi and team from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
Mini-liver therapies pair up hunky immune defender T cells with sweet nerdy liver cells. TOGETHER, they fight off bacterial beach bullies.
The trick is keeping T cells from wailing on the liver cells too.
Here, they derived liver AND T cells from the SAME patient.
And? No beef between these bros! These patient-matched drug therapies are hot!
Who knew liver and T cells would be such a power couple?!
