This summer, Maureen Purcell will serve as a Graduate Fellow for UCI Global Service Scholars, a program run by the UCI Blum Center for Poverty Alleviation. As part of her work, she will take a group of undergraduate students to Cape Town, South Africa, where the students practice compassion in the lens of service work in conservation, women empowerment, human rights, and health. The aim of this program is to cultivate compassion and global citizenship in aspiring leaders through learning about the science and practice of compassion and applying these principles during a four-week international service learning project. We wish you the best, Maureen!
