What’s YOUR expiration date?
This is Sandra Tsing Loh with the Loh Down on Science.
There’s your actual age – based on your birthday – and your epigenetic age – based on your health. This is measured with an epigenetic clock. And guess what: you can eat yourself younger! Huh?!
Enter Varun Dwaraka and team at Stanford. They analyzed the DNA of 21 identical twins.
They wanted to see who aged faster. One twin forced to eat a vegan diet for eight weeks? Or the other, on a more open, but still healthy omnivorous diet?
Results? The veganized twins’s cells aged SIGNIFICANTLY slower. Boom! The support for plant-based diets just keeps growing!
Since you ARE what you eat…
Would you rather look like fresh kale? Or Keith Richards – I mean Beef Jerky?!
