Hivers slam dunk at Grad Slam

Four of our very own ascend the ranks at UC Irvine Grad Slam!

Contestants are challenged to explain the blood, sweat, and tears of their graduate research in just THREE minutes. The winner goes on to compete in the system-wide competition among all the Universities of California. This year, Karen Arcos and Will Thrift placed in the top ten finalists discussing their work on how different senses impact human memory, and antibiotic-resistant bacteria, respectively. Jessie Yaros scored third place, sharing her work on the other-race effect. Last, but certainly not least, Rachel Rosenzweig took the victory at UCI Grad Slam with her pitch on nature-inspired tools to kill infectious bacteria and fungi! Rachel will represent the Anteaters in the UC-wide competition on May 10.

Congrats to all, and join us in cheering Rachel on this May!
